Peter AllenAmerican flagPeter E. Allen, 78, of Barre, passed away May 25, 2019 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1940 in Batavia, a son of the late Leon and Grace (Peters) Allen.

Peter was a 1958 graduate of Albion High School who served his country in the United States Army. He was a former employee of Freeman’s Cycle Ranch, and he retired from the Orleans County Highway Department. Peter started motorcycle racing at an early age and was a very active life member of the Crusaders Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge of motorcycles with several generations, especially with the Standish and Hazel families, with whom he traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Peter touched many lives and will be remembered by many in the racing circuit. When Peter wasn’t busy with racing, he enjoyed NASCAR.

He is survived by his brother, William (Donna) Allen; his H.A.S. family, Leon and Deloris Standish, Kevin and Dawn Hazel, Dean and Cyndy Standish, Brandi and Jeremy DiMatteo, Bryan Hazel, Brad and Amy Hazel, Trevor Standish, Jace and Braelyn DiMatteo, Aviannah Hughson, Brody and Bryson Hazel; three nieces; and many friends.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 17 at Millville Cemetery, East Shelby Road. A celebration of Pete’s life will follow at the Hazel home, 13228 Otter Lane, Albion, beginning at 2 p.m.
