Paul Thomas Pollard, 71, of Lyndonville, went to be with the Lord on Wed., Jan. 2, 2019 with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Paul was born on Feb. 22, 1947 in Rochester, N.Y., son of the late Henry G. and Joy M. Pollard. Paul was raised in Medina, where he graduated from high school in the class of 1965. He attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history. He then went on to serve in the United States Army National Guard, and he worked alongside his family at Grant Pollard Insurance in Medina until his retirement in 2002.

Following retirement, Paul fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a historical curator on his beloved Jeckyll Island in Georgia, where he wintered for many years with his loving wife and his faithful companion dog, Sadie Grace. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed kayaking, camping, cross-country skiing, hiking and golfing. He also enjoyed researching his family history, which included both English and American roots. Paul loved old cars, walks on the beach, and spending time with his grandchildren. He felt he had experienced all of the things he ever wanted to do in his lifetime. Paul was involved in many organizations within the community. From an early age, he was a member of Boy Scouts of America, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a member of Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and elder. He was a member of the Lyndonville Lions Club, served as a chairman of the Lyndonville Fourth of July parade for many years, and was a member of the Friends of Historic Jekyll Island. Paul was a key person in the renovations and restorations of several historic structures there.

Paul is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean; four daughters, Alison (Philip) Boseck, Libby (Joel) Woodroe, Megan (Scott) Szalay and Hannah Pollard; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Brandon, Ashley, Hayden, Gavin, Jamie, Luke and Abigail; three siblings, Sarah (Craig) Lacy, Timothy (Karen) Pollard and Amanda Pollard; several nieces and nephews; and several close cousins. Those who knew Paul understood his dedication and love for his family’s well-being and happiness.
