Dorothy Elaine Nichols Carr Hilger Claypoole Gibson

ALBION- Dorothy Elaine Nichols Carr Hilger Claypoole Gibson went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2023. She was born December 12, 1927 in Buffalo, N.Y. to Raymond DeHart Nichols and Julia Marion McInteer Nichols. She spent her early years in Bowling Green, KY, home of her mother’s family. She moved to Orleans County NY as a youth where she graduated from Albion in the Class of 1946. Dorothy later resided in Monaca, PA where she and her husband Robert Gibson owned and operated the Beaver Bumper Mart. Dorothy was cared for over the last several years by the kind, professional staff of Coos County Nursing Hospital, N.H. She is survived by her children: Ruth (Richard) Miller, Nicki (Paul) Tiffany, Michael ( Dawn) Claypoole and Lynnford “ Bill” Claypoole. Her legacy includes 8 grandchildren: Julie (Timothy) Trembley, Michelle (Brian) Sullivan, Kristen Ruest, Vicki (Leslie) Kuipers, Richard (Nicole) Miller, Gwen Jones, Amanda Claypoole and Michael Claypoole; 16 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday December 9, 2023 at the West Barre United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Kenyonville Cemetery.
