Dorothy Knapp

Dorothy A. Knapp, 89, of Medina, went to be with the Lord on Tue., July 16, 2019 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, after a long illness.

Born on June 5, 1930 in East Otto, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Clark) Peacock.

Dorothy came to the Albion/Medina area in the 1940s and was later employed with General Electric Company of Brockport, N.Y. for 20 years. She attended Genesee Community College, where she received an associate degree in human services, and then worked for the Genesee County Office of the Aging until her retirement in 1980.

Dorothy was a member of Alabama Full Gospel Fellowship Church of Medina. She had a love of sewing and making quilts, which she shared with family and friends. Dorothy was a devoted mother and dear friend to her many church, sewing and hobby circles.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Harold Knapp; children, James and Robert VanderWoude, both of Medina, Linda (Henry Azcue) VanderWoude of Brooklyn, N.Y., Donald Knapp of Indiana, and Edward (Hope) Knapp of Alexander, N.Y.; granddaughter-in-law, Shannon Daugherty of North Adams, Mass.; grandsons, Travis VanderWoude, Johnathon, Joshua and Michael Knapp; great-grandsons, Chase and Payton VanderWoude, Benjamin, Connor, Oliver and Jordan Knapp; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by a son, William VanderWoude.

Relatives and friends may call on Fri., July 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Russell Peters officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Springville, N.Y.
