N-O swim, basketball seasons set to begin this week

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Alyssa Beyer and her Medina teammates will host Newfane Tuesday to open the Niagara-Orleans League swim season. Albion will visit Roy-Hart and Barker will host Akron in the other openers.

The Niagara-Orleans League will begin its boys and girls swimming and boys and girls basketball campaigns to highlight the upcoming week of area high school sports action.

The N-O swim openers on Tuesday will have Albion at Roy-Hart, Newfane at Medina and Akron at Barker. The Roy-Hart boys and Newfane girls teams are the defending champions.

N-O basketball action gets underway Thursday with Roy-Hart facing CSAT. The rest of the league will open on Friday with Newfane vs. Medina, Albion vs. Wilson and Akron vs. Barker. The Barker boys and Wilson girls teams are the defending champions.

The week’s action will also feature rivals Holley and Kendall meeting on the basketball court Friday. Holley will host the boys game and Kendall the girls contest.

Boys Basketball: Oracle at Albion, 5:30 p.m. varsity only
Girls Basketball: Byron-Bergen at Kendall, Oakfield-Alabama at Lyndonville, 7 p.m.

Tuesday

Boys Basketball: Medina at Park, 6 p.m.; Tonawanda at Roy-Hart, Pembroke at Lyndonville, 7 p.m.
Girls Basketball: Global Concepts at Medina, 6:30 p.m.
Swimming: Newfane at Medina, Albion at Roy-Hart, Akron at Barker, 4:30 p.m.
Wrestling: Byron-Bergen at Lyndonville, 6 p.m.

Wednesday

Boys Basketball: Alexander at Holley, Kendall at Byron-Bergen, 7 p.m.
Wrestling: Akron at Medina, Newfane at Albion, Wilson at Barker/Roy-Hart, Holley at Kendall, 6 p.m.

Thursday

Boys Basketball: Roy-Hart at CSAT, 6 p.m.
