Newfane girls roll past Roy-Hart

Staying within a game of the top spot, Newfane rolled to a 47-26 victory over host Roy-Hart this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Newfane improves to 11-1 with the win and says close on the heels of undefeated (12-0) defending champion Wilson which scored a 40-32 victory over Barker. Newfane will host Wilson in the N-O season finale on Thursday.

Paige Emborsky scored 14 and Brooke Horning 11 to lead the way for Newfane.

Emma Lindke took game high scoring honors with 15 for Roy-Hart.

Trailing 7-5, Newfane closed the opening period with a 9-0 run to rally into the lead for good at 14-7. Emborsky had 8 points, including two threes, to lead the Lady Panthers in the early going.

Newfane extended its lead to 13, 30-17, at the half as Horning had a three and a layup and Emily Foltz a pair of buckets in the second quarter.

The Lady Panthers then broke the contest wide open by outscoring the Lady Rams 16-2 in the third period. Five different players contributed baskets during that stretch which saw Newfane open up a commanding 29 point, 46-17, advantage at the three-quarter mark.

The loss drops Roy-Hart to 2-10 in N-O action.

Wilson 40, Barker 32
Rachel Senek scored 13 to lead a balanced attack for Wilson.

Caitlyn Mason took game high honors with 19 for Barker which slips to 4-8.
