Medina U14 Fillies drop twin bill

North Tonawanda erupted for nine runs over the final two innings to lock up 17-5 victory over the Medina U14 Fillies Sunday evening in a Metro Girls Softball League game at Vets Park.
The Fillies also dropped a 16-1 decision to Cayuga in the second game.
Home runs by Jaclyn Guzdek and Lampart Kennedy, along with an RBI double by Natalie Bigelow, helped keep Medina within three at 8-5 after five innings.
However, North Tonawanda pulled away down the stretch scoring four times in the sixth on a grand slam home run and five more times in the seventh.
Ryenn Oliver had two hits for Medina.
Alyssa Beyer then had the only hit and scored the lone run for the Fillies in the contest against Cayuga which broke the game open early with nine runs in the second inning.
The Fillies next visit Niagara-Wheatfield this evening.
