Lyons cagers trim Kendall

Breaking away from a 38-38 deadlock, No. 4 Lyons outscored visiting No. 5 Kendall 20-12 in the decisive final quarter to earn a 58-50 victory this evening in the quarterfinal ground of the Section V Class C2 playoffs.

Garret Love scored 16 and Mookie Nauden 15 for Kendall as Alex Sutphen, Will Condo and Devin Appleton each added 5 and Isaiah Brown 4. Nauden also had 9 rebounds and 3 steals an Love 5 rebounds.

Kendall led 12-9 after one quarter as Lyons rallied into a 21-21 tie at the half.
Lyons advances to the C2 semifinals with a 13-6 record as Kendal finishes the season at 12-7.

Section V Class B2
No. 4 Health Sciences roared out to a commanding 48-27 half-time advantage in route to posting a 81-53 victory over No. 5 Roy-Hart in a Section VI Class B2 quarterfinal at Nichols.

Alex Stoddard poured in 26 to lead Roy-Hart as DaRon Woods added 10, Austin Heschke 8 and Marc Roman 7.

“They were too quick and too athletic. They were good shooters. They had nine threes,” said Roy-Hart Coach Mark Rydza. “And we had too many turnovers.”

Roy-Hart finishes the season at 10-10.

Girls Basketball – Section V Class D1

Romulus 92, Lyndonville 28
Undefeated (19-0) top seed Romulus romped to a 92-28 victory over visiting No. 8 Lyndonville in a Section V Class D1 quarterfinals.

Romulus built up a 36-13 half-time advantage and then outscored Lyndonville 27-0 in the third quarter.

Jenna Castricone had 8 for Lyndonville as Autumn Nesbitt added 4 and Rebekah Hoffee and Morgan Hungerford 3 each.
