A big fourth quarter comeback bid fell just short as Niagara-Orleans League champion No. 2 seed Wilson dropped a narrow 53-48 decision to No. 3 Fredonia this evening in the Section VI Class B2 semifinals at Buffalo State College.

Trailing by 12, 41-29, after three-quarters Wilson came battling back down the stretch to get as close as one but the Lakemen could not pull even or grab the lead.

A three and two baskets by Kyle Bradley keyed a 12-2 Wilson run at the outset of the fourth quarter which pulled Wilson to within two at 43-41.

The Lakemen stayed within two at 45-43 after two free throws by Evan Shank and then closed to within one at 47-46 after a three by Joe Littere.

However, Fredonia capitalized on a turnover to score a big basket and gain a little breathing room at 49-46.

Two free throws by Bradley kept Wilson within three at 51-48 but the Lakemen could get no closer.

Bradley finished with a total of 30 points for the Lakemen which trailed 13-7 after one quarter and 29-16 at the half.

Fredonia will now face No. 5 Buffalo East, a 59-44 victor over No. 1 Cleve Hill in the other semi, for the B2 title on Saturday at Buffalo State.
