There was no need for a shot clock in this one as host Lew-Port outraced Medina 89-74 in a fast paced, free wheeling non league game this afternoon.

Lew-Port jumped out to a 9-2 lead at the outset but Medina came battling back to within one at 17-16 behind a 10 point scoring burst by Dylan Lewis on back-to-back threes, a layup and a jumper and the track meet was on.

Lew-Port held a 28-23 lead at the end of the high scoring opening quarter as Jenard Jackson tallied 7 of his 18 points and Colton Stollard 6 of his 15 during that stretch.

The Lancers maintained a 10 point, 51-41, lead at the half as Craig Paige netted 10 of his game high 28 in the second period.

Jalin Cooper scored 6 and Lewis, Jason Hellwig and Justin Morgan each added 4 for Medina during that stretch to keep the Mustangs close.

The free wheeling Lancers stretched the advantage to a many as 19 in the third period and settled for a 17 point, 73-56, lead at the three-quarter mark. Stollard had three buckets and Jackson and Jordan Willard each chipped in with a three and a layup to key that 22-15 scoring spurt.

Medina though came battling back in the final period to trim the deficit to 12 at 83-71 with just over two minutes to go. Cooper and Devonte Howard both had a jumper and a layup, Morgan a three and a layup and Hellwig a jumper to key that rally but the Mustangs could get no closer.

Paige, who scored 10 points in a row for Lew-Port down the stretch, answered with a pair of buckets on a rebound and a layup to quickly put the Lancers back in command by 16 at 87-71 and put a lock on the victory.

Lewis and Hellwig both finished with 17 for the Mustang as Cooper netted 14, Morgan 11, Howard 8, David Garrow 5 and Aaron Feltz 2.

Now at 1-5 overall, Medina next hosts Barker on January 6 when Niagara-Orleans League action resumes.
