Lady Rams edge Mustangs

Snapping a season opening two league game losing streak, Roy-Hart trimmed host Medina 43-37 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans contest.

In other N-O games, defending champion Wilson defeated host Albion 56-36 and Barker downed visiting Akron 36-30.

Becky Harnish scored a game high 16 points to lead the way for Roy-Hart as Taylor Fry added 8, Brianna Lewandowski and Morgan Jones 6, Emma Lindke 3 and Kendra Hill and Casidhe Heschke 2. Harnish also grabbed off 10 rebounds.

Taylor Miller scored 10 and Nicole Blount 9 for Medina which also had Molley Gross with 6, Maddy Winters and Emily Kams 4 and DeAndrea Salone and Rowan Hamner 2. Gross also had 14 rebounds.

Roy-Hart held narrow leads of 10-8 after one period, 17-12 at the half and 26-22 at the three-quarter mark.

Harnish scored five in the third period and six in the fourth and Fry four in the fourth to help the Lady Rams put a lock on the win.

Medina, which is now 0-2 in the league, next hosts CSAT in a make-up game Monday with the JV contest scheduled for 11 a.m.

Wilson 56, Albion 36
Leading by a narrow 22-20 margin at the half, Wilson used a big 22-9 third quarter scoring burst to key the 56-36 victory over Albion.

Emily Lasher scored 7 of her 14 points, including two threes, to lead Wilson’s decisive third period uprising. Lasher also had 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists.

Dana Smith added 11 points and 7 rebounds and Kaylee Stoelting 11 points and 8 rebounds for Wilson which improves to 2-0.

Chanyce Powell scored 14 and Justice Nauden 12 for Albion which slips to 1-1.

Barker 36, Akron 30
Trailing 10-9 at the half, Barker rallied to outscored Akron 27-20 in the second half to claim the 36-30 victory and improve to 2-0.

Julia Atwater scored 14 of her game high 17 points in the second half to spearhead the Barker rally. Atwater, who also grabbed off 9 rebounds, scored 6 in the third period and 8 in the fourth.

Caitlyn Mason added 7 points and Melissa Grosshans 4 for the Lady Raiders.

Gina Henley scored 8 and Tobi Abrams 6 for Akron which slips to 1-1.

Alexander 37, Kendall 32
Nicole Browe and Toni ReQua both scored 10 points, Taylor Kingsbury 8 and Tania Arellano 4 for Kendall in the Lady Eagles narrow Genesee Region League loss to Alexander.

Alexander led 24-18 at the half.
