Jr. Wilson II wins regular season finale

Playing in the rain and the mud, Jr. Wilson II outlasted Erin Townsend Photography 20-17 Monday to close out the Medina Women’s Softball League ‘B’ Division regular season.

Jr. Wilson II, which finishes in a tie for second place at 8-4, got off to a fast start scoring nine runs on five walks and five hits in the top of the first inning.

and Pam Maryjanowski plated two more runs but Jr. Wilson II went into the top of the
seventh down three runs.

Rallying, Jr. Wilson II scored six runs and preserved the lead by blanking Townsend in the bottom of the seventh.

ETP had two break out innings, scoring six runs in both the fourth and fifth frames.
The Jr. Wilson II attack included Nicki Dresser (four singles, two RBI), Julie Tette  (one single), Jenn Thom (two singles, two RBI), Marie Brockway  (two singles, two RBI), Rachel Preston (one single, one RBI), Audrey Woodruff (one single, two RBI), Audrey Schalck (two singles, one triple, three RBI), Randi Maryjanowski (two singles, two RBI), Sari Rupp (two singles, two RBI) an Pam Maryjanowski, three RBI).

Final ‘B’ Division standings: Albion Vets 12-0, Ho Jacks 8-4, Jr. Wilson II 8-4, Zambito 6-6, Orchard Manor 4-8, Erin Townsend Photography 3-0, East Center Street Stop ‘n Shop 1-11.

‘A’ Division

In ‘A” Division action, Banes Machine Shop/Banes Plumbing dropped a doubleheader to Jr. Wilson I by scores of 9-8 and 11-6.

In the opener, Jr. Wilson used two run scoring bursts in the third, fourth and fifth innings to claim the narrow win.

Banes had a three run fifth inning on singles by Jessica Carpenter and Sue Seefeldt and a home run by Jen Masse.

Alisha Foss had a total of three hits for Banes as Jenny Odessa added two including a double which capped a two run fourth inning.

In the second game, Jr. Wilson scored three times in the first, second and fourth innings to key the win.

Banes big inning was a three run third which included a double by Seefeldt, a triple by Masse and singles by Connie Heschke and Kathy Allen.

Masse finished with three hits, including a double, while Allen and Seefeldt both had two.

Banes will next face Just Us at 8 .m. Saturday at Jr. Wilson in order to complete the pairings for the playoffs which will begin at 9 a.m.
