A big four-run fifth inning scoring burst on a barrage of five straight hits, keyed No. 4 seed Genesee Valley to a 5-3 victory over No. 2 Lyndonville in the Section V Class DD championship game this afternoon at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia.
Snapping a 1-1 deadlock, Genesee Valley in rapid fire succession banged out a single by Carson Werner, a two-run single by Tyler Zlomek, a double by Jon Morse and RBI singles by Vinny Biancuzzo and Noah Windus to score four times and take the lead for good.
Lyndonville had jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning as Jacob Hoffee singled and came home on a triple by Ty Hrovat who had three hits on the day.

Working to get back in the game, Lyndonville scored once in the sixth as Hrovat singled, advanced on a hit by Eric Neace and came home on a fielders choice play off the bat of Chris Scroger to make it 5-2.
The Tigers then mounted a one out threat in the bottom of the seventh as Bentley doubled and came home on a single by AJ Buckland to make it 5-3. However, the Tigers rally fell short as two fly outs to centerfield ended the rally and locked up the title for Genesee Valley.
Lyndonville finishes the season at 15-6.
