Albion, Medina, Holley netters win

Enjoying success on the road, Albion defeated Newfane and Medina downed Roy-Hart by identical 5-1/2 scores this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League tennis matches.

Holley edged past Oakfield-Alabama 3-2 in a Genesee Region League contest.

Albion swept the three singles matches as Dyer Benjovsky defeated Jeremy Ribbeck 6-2, 7-5; Josh Metzler downed Nick Kozial 6-0, 6-2 and Dan Beam shutout Zach Russell 6-0, 6-0.

The Purple Eagles also took the first two doubles matches. Kyler McQuillan and Monica Benjovsky blanked Casey Gregory and Joel Swogier 6-0, 6-0 and Cristal Quintana and Mike Stilwell downed Whitney and Serell Atkins 6-2, 6-2.

Newfane took the third doubles as Bobby Heers and Ethan Morgan downed Dylan Bader and Matt Kovaleski.

Medina likewise swept the three singles matches as Kristian Snyder defeated Valeria Sillar 6-4, 6-1; Tristan Sanders downed Elliot Spitzer 6-1, 6-2 and Brian Bogan bested Jarod Shepard 6-1, 6-0.

The Mustangs also scored wins in the first two doubles matches. Nick Dieter and Michael Cardone defeated Quinn Moreland and Patrick Sheelar 6-3, 6-2 and Brandon Harris and Xion Baes defeated Denzel Flowers and Kelsey Eldridge 6-4, 6-3.

Roy-Hart took the third doubles as Jon Eggert and Jamie Swick downed Tom Horgan and Austin Owens 6-4, 6-4.

Holley got straight set wins at the first and third singles spots from Brady Smith and Jon Rusin.

The Hawks also took the second doubles in straight sets with a win by Andrew Spychalski and Diana Yaroshuhuk.
