Crusaders to host Memorial Race
This Sunday the Crusaders Motorcycle Club will be having one of the largest races it has ever hosted at the Culvert Road track in the 59 year history of the club. It is a memorial race in memory of Les Washbon and Pat Blount, two local Western New Yorkers who had an impact on the sport of motorcycle racing in this area and who both passed away unexpectedly at a young age. There is over $10,000 of prize money being awarded and riders from all over the U.S. and from several other countries will be in attendance. “I am very excited to be able to have top points leaders from the AMA Grand National series here to honor our friends and their families in this grandiose manner”, stated event coordinator Rhonda Waters. “We have long felt we have one of Orleans county’s best kept secrets in our own back yard and Sunday we will showcase or facility and the quality of talent we are developing.” Gates open at 8 a.m., with practice at 11:30 and racing at 12:30 p.m. sharp.
